The world's richest lawn bowls event is headed to the Gold Coast for the next five years, marking the first time the sport's premiere event will be held outside of Victoria in its 10-year history. Over 4,000 bowlers from around the nation and globe will descend on the coastal tourist destination for the 13 day festival, which boasts a AUD225,000 prize purse.
'The world's biggest bowls festival' will utilise 14 clubs as venues for portions of the annual event, including Beenleigh Bowls and Recreation Club, Broadbeach Bowls and Community Club, Burleigh Heads Bowls Club, Club Benowa, Club Helensvale, Club Robina, Coolangatta Bowls Club, Gold Coast Bowls and Community Club, Mermaid Beach Bowls Club, Mudgeeraba Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club, Paradise Point Bowls Club, Southport Bowls Club, and Tugun Bowls and Community Club Broadbeach, the bowls venue for the 2018 Commonwealth Games, has been hand picked to host the finals.
