12 Towers Ocean Paddle Race 2020
An unmissable event to spectate on Palm Beach, 12 Towers Ocean Paddle Race will see Australia’s elite stand-up paddleboarders take on a 15-kilometre course from Snapper Rocks to Burleigh Heads, passing 12 lifeguard towers at locations including Coolangatta Beach, Kirra Beach, Bilinga Beach, Tugun Beach, Currumbin Beach, Palm Beach and Burleigh Beach.
Be on the beach to watch all the action firsthand, cheer on the participants and soak up a festival atmosphere across two action-packed days. 12 Towers Ocean Paddle Festival will take place on March 6 with the second day scheduled for March 7 or March 8.
Gold Coast Movies Under the Stars

2020 Corona Open Gold Coast
The World Surf League Corona Open returns to Queensland’s Gold Coast for 11 days of championship-level surfing in one of the world’s most iconic surfing locations!
Corona Open Gold Coast 2020 will feature the best surfers from around the world showcasing their skills at the Snapper Rocks Superbank, internationally famous for its unrivalled surfing conditions and pro surfing tournaments held throughout the year. Paving the way for the 2020 World Surf League Championship Tour, the Gold Coast Corona Open is an opportunity to see world-class surfers give it their all at Snapper Rocks, not to be missed for diehard surfing fans from March 26 to April 5.
Aussies Surf Life Saving Championships
See lifesavers from more than 300 surf clubs in Australia go head-to-head on the Gold Coast for the 2020 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. Comprising the Youth Championships on Burleigh Beach and the Masters and Open Championships on Kurrawa Beach, this week-long surf lifesaving tournament will have plenty to absorb, involving over 400 competitive events held on the beach and in the ocean.
Witness returning champions defend their titles and new surf lifesavers climb the ranks in challenging male, female and team events. The Youth Championships will take place on April 18 and April 19, followed by the Masters and Open Championships from April 20 to April 26.
Coolangatta Cooly Classic 2020
The famous Cooly Classic is back this autumn for its 11th event which will carry on the success of last year’s inaugural 5-kilometre distance. Ready your swimming cap or get a spot on Coolangatta Beach to soak up the atmosphere and watch the action unfold, taking over Coolangatta Gold Coast for a full day of premier ocean swimming.
Events will include the Cooly 1000m, Cooly 3km, Cooly 5km and the iconic 2km Cooly Classic, set for another fantastic turnout of casual and seasoned swimmers with an incredible atmosphere on Coolangatta Beach and Queen Elizabeth Park. Hosted by World Series Swims, don’t miss the 2020 Coolangatta Cooly Classic – a short 15-minute drive from Regency Apartments Palm Beach – on April 26.
